It feels slightly surreal to realise we’re approaching two years of Underbelly Press. I find myself reflecting on how quickly time has passed, and how an academic project has grown steadily with each issue, shaped by the writers and artists who have trusted this space with their work. One of the things I value most is the community that has formed around Underbelly. If you’re a contributor who is working on something you’d like to celebrate, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to share and celebrate it with you.

Issue 6 marks our second themed edition, centred on Greed. I wanted to explore how greed threads itself through ordinary life, not only in obvious excess, but in more subtle forms too. The urge to take more than we need, the desire to be noticed or validated, the pursuit of success or attention at the cost of connection. The way people benefit from wanting, and the people who are left carrying those consequences. As always, Underbelly Press remains focused on the raw and the human. I’ve curated a collection that seeks to examine the ordinary with authenticity and depth. 

Putting this issue together has been an honour. It exists because of the generosity and trust of the contributors who shared their work, and because of the readers who engage with it. Thank you for being part of Underbelly Press.
