Guidelines
Please note that as a newly established, independent project ran by volunteers, we are unable to compensate authors and artists at this time. We are hoping this will change in the near future!

We are seeking new and unpublished works in the forms of short fiction, poetry, and art.
You are welcome to send simultaneous submissions, but please contact us by email if your piece has been accepted elsewhere.
We do not accept any content that has been AI-generated or AI-assisted. We do not accept racist, sexist, transphobic, or erotic content.​​​

Short fiction
You may submit up to three pieces of short fiction.
Word count: Maximum of 1,000 (not including title)
Format: .doc or .docx
​Presentation: Size 12 font. Single spacing. Include your name and the title of the piece at the top of the document.

Poetry
You may submit up to five poems of any style.
Word count: Maximum of 30 lines.
Format: .doc or .docx

Art
You may submit up to five pieces of original art (of any medium).
Format: .jpg / .jpeg or .png​
Optional but advised: Include a caption of up to 200 words that adds a brief commentary on how your piece fits the theme of Underbelly Press.​

Editorial and rights
For accepted poetry and flash fiction submissions, one of our editors will provide basic spelling and grammar checks. We will contact you prior to publishing to suggest any proposed edits, which will be made at your discretion.
By submitting to Underbelly Press, if accepted, you agree to grant us first electronic rights and non-exclusive archival rights. All other rights revert to the original author or artist upon publication. We request that you cite us as the first place of publication if your piece is re-published elsewhere. All submissions remain the intellectual property of the creator.
