Equinox
David Kenny
Yellowing leaf beginning an inevitable nosedive
Caught mid air by a spider’s thread
Suspended, frozen in time, dangling by the stem
Over the woodland path littered with
Decaying foliage, the cyclical process underway.
The fateful fall delayed by an
Invisible lifeline, hoping to pause the harsh winter
And keep the darkness at bay, in vain.
