SOMETIMES

Devon Webb

sometimes I just wait for the time to pass

the city seethes & empties itself on top of me

drowning in the drudgery & I can barely breathe

sometimes it just seems impossible – surviving

when all we achieved this past century is switching

from socialist fascism to capitalist fascism

I watch the world die & die inside so fucking slowly

where are we going but deeper into

the spiral of our simultaneous individual & collective despair

we are all so sad & tired why can’t we just break things

there are so many men I would love to see

drop like a fucked puppet with no strings & no

limbs left moving yet why are we still

letting their misery lead?
