Footsteps

Joseph Blythe

I’ve changed my name and my address

but I still fear your footsteps.

I’ve loved and lost and loved again

yet still I fear your footsteps.

I’ve laid down roots and made good friends

though still I fear your footsteps.

I’ve built a home and made my bed

and I still fear your footsteps.

In every dream I ever have

I swear I hear your footsteps.

I think it might be in my head

but I can hear your footsteps.

In my grave after death

I bet I hear your footsteps overhead.
